ISMM AWARDS

DR. M. J. THIRUMALACHAR LIFE TIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

The Life Time Achievement award is established to honour members of the Society who during the span of his/her life time have demonstrated a longstanding commitment to the cause of the Medical mycology in India. Dr. Arvind A. Padhye, one of the senior most illustrious and revered member of the society made this possible by a generous donation.

The award recognizes the significant contribution to the understanding and application of the knowledge pertaining to Medical Mycology in India, over the entire course of his/her time, with a definable body of work through one or more of the following:

  • •    Teaching/Training
  • •    Research
  • •    Publications/patents
  • •    Patient care

Who may receive the award?

  • •   The nominee should be a Life member of the society in good standing.
  • •   He / she should have worked in the field of mycology for at least 25 years but not necessarily active professionally at the time of receiving the award.
  • •   He / she must be alive at the time the selection is announced.
  • •   In case of unfortunate event of death of the awardee after selection, the award would be presented posthumously.

Process of selection

  • •   Any life member may propose and nominate the name of the eligible member
  • •   The proposal should be seconded by another life member.
  • •   The nominations should be sent to the contact details [General Secretary, ISMM] as communicated by the conference secretariat
  • •   Executive council will nominate the reviewers to evaluate the documents submitted and the decision is made after deliberations.
  • •   Additional senior members may be invited to participate in these deliberations.

Award is presented during the biennial conference before or during the closing ceremony. It includes a certificate, memento / medal.

DR. G.P. AGGARWAL YOUNG SCIENTIST AWARD

Young Scientist award was instituted and sponsored by Prof. S.M. Singh, Department of Biological Science, R.D. University, Jabalpur in honour of his mentor and teacher Prof. G.P. Aggarwal, Emeritus Scientist and an eminent mycologist.

Award: It includes a cash award of Rs. 500/- and a certificate.

Selection process:

  • •   Age limit: Less than 35 years
  • •   Young scientists must submit full papers of original work before the deadline along with proof of age to the contact details [General Secretary, ISMM] as communicated by the conference secretariat.
  • •   Neutral reviewers will select the best 3 to 5 papers for oral presentation during the biennial conference
  • •   The presentations will be evaluated by a panel of eminent neutral referees during the conference and to select the awardee.

DR. PANKAJALAKSHMI VENUGOPAL GLAXO MERITORIOUS AWARD

Award: Cash award of Rs. 1000/- and a certificate

Selection process:

  • •   Age limit: Less than 35 years
  • •   Young scientists must submit the Curriculum Vitae with list of publications and reprints of the published papers in the field of medical mycology.
  • •   The documents must be submitted before the deadline along with proof of age to the contact details [General Secretary, ISMM] as communicated by the conference secretariat.
  • •   The documents will be evaluated by eminent neutral referees.
  • •   The awardee is selected based on the outstanding work in the field of medical mycology.

DR. KAMALAM GLAXO AWARD

Award: Cash award of Rs. 1000/- and a certificate

Selection process:

  • •   There is no Age limit
  • •   Applicant must submit full length research paper in the field of dermato-mycology in duplicate before the deadline along with proof of age to the contact details [General Secretary, ISMM] communicated by the conference secretariat.
  • •   Neutral reviewers will select the best 3 to 5 papers for oral presentation during the biennial conference.
  • •   The presentations will be evaluated by a panel of eminent neutral referees during the conference to select the awardee.
